2018 Goals Recap: How'd we do?

Last January, I posted a very lengthy (and ambitious!) article about all of my goals for 2018. Today, nosotros are going to get through each goal and see how we did. 2018 Goals Epitomize

Relationship Goals!

My number ane goal in January of 2022 was to piece of work on my relationship with my ex. This is 1 goal that I'grand extremely happy to have failed at! After nosotros broke up, I wrote a mail service nearly how terrible the relationship actually was, and I'grand and so thankful that I was able to escape information technology.

I honestly retrieve that this break up had a ripple affect across the balance of my goals. It's easy to spend all of your free time working on side hustles and other projects when you don't actually desire to spend time with your partner. I knew even back then that the relationship was bad and I needed to go out, merely I but didn't have the strength. I immersed myself in projects to avoid confrontation.

In fact, the but reason my acme goal of 2022 was to work on my human relationship was to placate him. He would've gotten upset if I didn't include it. That lone should have told me how toxic it was. I mean, it did, and I knew way earlier that how toxic is was, simply it actually is difficult to escape a toxic relationship. I've been there and I become it.

Increment Net Worth by 50K

I'm not nearly as happy about my failure on this goal. My net worth really decreased past 15K! And that's after information technology grew past quite a bit in the first two quarters. Obviously having a cyberspace worth increase goal that relies on external factors like the stock market isn't the best idea ever. Lesson learned.

My net worth loss was due to the drastic changes in the stock market over the past few months – peculiarly Dec. Market crashes happen, and I'chiliad non really that upset near it because I'yard still invested for the long term. I've just been buying stocks on sale for the by few weeks!

I know this is the time of year that anybody is looking at their portfolios, and due to political factors things aren't looking practiced. But stay the course! I know it sucks to see such huge losses, but equally long as you all the same have a long investment time-frame, you lot will be fine.

Web log Goals

My main blog goal of 2022 was to publish at least two posts per month. Win! I actually did way meliorate than that! Exterior of my 6-week hiatus, I posted two blog posts almost every single week! I failed at making my blog profitable; my goal was to make a whopping $1200 and I only made $17.00. But hey, 17 bucks is 17 buck! I started a few more affiliate programs late in 2018, and I think those are going to increase my profits for the coming years. 2022 is going to be a great yr for Partners in Burn down!

I failed epically at all my blog goals for my other website, Travels Most and Far. I didn't edit any of my older posts and I didn't write any new ones. Information technology was super ambitious to think that I'd have time to practise both. I did non. Well, peradventure I would have if I had stuck to the two posts a calendar month goal, but instead I decided to put all of my free energy into Partners in Fire, and I think that will pay off in spades in the future.

Social Media Goals

I actually achieved some of my social media goals! I got over one thousand followers on Instagram and over 100 Facebook likes. My Twitter and Pinterest goals were far more than aggressive, and I didn't quite reach those. I concluded 2022 with virtually 3500 Twitter followers and only about thousand Pinterest followers. I know I'll reach the 5K mark on Twitter in 2019, and maybe I'll be a bit less ambitious about Pinterest.

Nonetheless, I did learn that information technology'south not really the quantity of followers that y'all take simply the quality. My ex congenital up the Instagram account before we broke up, and it was horrible. There were tons of "follow for follow" types of accounts following me. I had to drop all of those and rebuild with an authentic following. I lost a lot of followers while I was doing that, but I think the quality of new followers is much better. Its much amend to have x real followers than 100 fake ones.

The but social media account I even tried to abound for Travels About and far was my Instagram account. And guess what, I got to over thou followers! Then I lost about xv of those because that'south how Instagram is. Does information technology count as a win if I accomplished it and so backtracked?

Health goals

Do you remember me talking about the biggest loser competition at piece of work? Well guess what, I won! I lost 22 freaking pounds in about 2 months last year! And and then I used the next ten months to gain about xv of those pounds back. So…still kind of a win? I do still experience pretty salubrious, I think losing 20 pounds was really fashion besides much for me. I could probably stand to lose about 5 pounds right at present, so perhaps I'll effort to exist a tad bit healthier next twelvemonth.

Unfortunately, I totally failed at my other health goal. I was going to mediate every single nighttime! That lasted about a calendar month. Just information technology'southward definitely something I want to get back into!

Gardening

One goal I really stuck with in 2022 was making a garden! We built a cute lilliputian fence to go on the dogs out and planted all of the things! Unfortunately, I was a scrap ambitious, and other than getting some ginormous zucchini, the garden was basically a fail. You can read all about it here! But the important matter is that I tried it, and I learned to exist less aggressive for next year. I retrieve I'm going to stick with one or two tomato and cucumber plants.

Side Hustles

The only side hustle I worked on this year was the blog, and like I said higher up it was non profitable. But I'm going to go along at it! I'm constantly improving my blogging skills, and I know that 2022 will exist an awesome year for Partners in Fire.

The side hustle I really failed at was my resale hustle. I didn't even go to 1 garage auction in 2018. In that location was probably cool stuff on sale in Georgia too! Oh well. Maybe I'll get back into that at present that I live in Pennsylvania. In that location's probably a agglomeration of cool old stuff here too!

So what did I do this year?

I failed on basically all of my 2022 goals. Only that's ok! Things change, and when they do priorities also change. I set up these goals thinking I would be in a terrible human relationship. As it turns out, when you are in a expert relationship y'all really desire to make time for your partner. Who would've thought? I didn't accept the time to focus on all of these things, and so I focused on my new relationship and on building Partners in Fire. I think that was the right choice, as I'm incredibly happy in my relationship and I'm happy with where Partners in Burn down is heading as a blog.

Lessons Learned

Although being ambitious in goal setting is a skilful affair (why fix goals that are too easy to achieve?), I learned that being as well ambitious isn't ever the answer. My goals for next year volition be a little less ambitious and a fiddling more thought out. I'll make them difficult even so achievable, and I won't spread myself too thin. I tin can't do everything, and it was airheaded to recall I'd be able to.
